Description
The Local Food Hub is an innovative hybrid nonprofit organization that values small-scale agriculture, land stewardship and equitable food access. Their mission is to partner with Virginia farmers to increase community access to local food. They provide the support services, infrastructure and market opportunities that connect people with food grown close to home. Since their founding in 2009, they have made locally sourced food accessible to schools, the elderly, hospitals, universities, restaurants and retailers. Through their community partnerships they not only feed, but also educate a new generation about the value of eating fresh and local. Family farms, the environment, public health and the local economy all benefit as a result.
