Description

Phil Colson and Lester Erlemeier established C&E Farms in 1986 in Cheriton, Virginia. These two men pioneered the process of hydro-cooling green beans to get the field heat out and extend the beans’ shelf life, setting a new industry standard. Their innovation, along with a dedication to quality and service, have made Red Barn Label beans a top choice.

C&E Farms grows between 800,000 to a million bushels of beans annually off of their 5,500-acre farm, making them the largest grower, packer and shipper of green beans in the country. Their territory ranges from Florida to Pennsylvania, with packing facilities in Cheriton, Virginia and Parrish, Florida. Colson explains that weather is one of the biggest challenges for the farm, as storms and heavy rains can easily push the harvesting process behind. Colson hopes the business continues to be a family-run business for generations to come.
