Description

Austrian immigrants Joseph Schartner and his brother Julius founded Schartner Farms in 1902. The farm is now a 150-acre farm that offers a wide variety of in-season fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants and flowers. The farm started out as a dairy farm and then moved on to produce potatoes and other produce. They sold most of their potato produce in bulk to George Greer and Frito-Lay. Eventually, they opened up a roadside farm stand and started acquiring more acreage that allowed them to produce a wider variety of products. They feature local, seasonal produce and even have a pick your own blueberry and strawberry season. Schartner Farms in Rhode Island is GAP certified.
