Description

In the early 1900s, R.E. Kincaid, an immigrant from the Netherlands acquired over 3,000 acres around Rice Lake and bought land from farmer John Beldt. John Beldt often complained about losing crops due to heavy rain, so Kincaid decided to drain the land to create valuable soil, an idea he remembered being successful in the Netherlands. Today, Rice Lake Farms sits on the rich muck soil of Grant, Michigan thanks to Kincaid’s project of draining the land. Rice Lake Farms is a second-generation family owned business that has been growing produce since 1950. The farm picks, packs and ships their products fresh to markets and distributors.
