Description

In 1974, Jerry Malburg, who was working as a full-time mechanic, bought 80 acres of farmland to grow vegetables. Now Malburg Farms is over 1600 acres and is run by the family’s second generation, Ryan, and his wife Krisztina.  The family enjoys the freedom of setting their own hours as well as the non-repetitive nature of the farming business. They are busiest between April through June planting and picking crops and during the fall harvest season, September through November. In 2012, the Michigan Vegetable Council awarded them the Master Farmer Award for having outstanding farming practices, as well as cooperation in crop research and extension education with Michigan State University.
