Description
Godfrey's Vegetable Farm is owned by Tom and Lisa Godfrey. Tom handles all of the growing and harvesting on the 250 plus acres, while Lisa runs the retail stand and wholesale sales. Both receive a tremendous amount of help from their twin daughters, Jane and Emily, who were born in 2002.
Tom's grandparents, Robert and Hazel Godfrey, were vegetable farmers in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. They had eight children, who all grew up working on the farm. Tom’s parents, George and Mary Godfrey, moved to the eastern shore of Maryland in 1952. By the late 60’s, George and Mary were harvesting over 150 acres. When Tom was 12, he and his 3 siblings grew and sold cantaloupes; he made $94 that year.
Godfrey’s Farm provides conventionally grown produce, using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to deter pests and limit pesticide use. IPM, as defined by the EPA, is the effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management. Producing safe products is of the highest importance to us. We work in accordance with the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) program, and have developed a food safety plan to provide our customers with the most safe, fresh and delicious product possible.
