Ben Diercks started the family farm business in 1962 and now third and fourth generation Steve Diercks and his son Andy run the farm. They manage approximately 2,700 acres of potatoes, corn and soybeans in Central Sands Region, which has some of the best soil for potato growing. Additionally, they work closely with the University of Wisconsin’s Agronomy and Soil Department and even have a UW-maintained observation facility on their farm. Andy loves working with the researchers at UW Madison, where he received his degree in agricultural engineering, to learn how to do things better and about how to farm sustainably. Their primary sales outlets include McCain’s French fries and Frito Lay.
